I believe the following photo is of Derk Jacobs Kruizenga (1879-1952). The uniform being worn is from World War 1. As far as I know, Derk never served in an official capacity. He was not a veteran. However, Derk did sign his draft papers near the end of the war. Was he drafted and given his uniforms right before the war ended? At the war's commencement, Derk would have been 35 years of age.
Judy Kruizenga loaned me the Marriage record book for Derk Jacobs Kruizenga and his new bride Katherine Klooster. Married on March 22, 1905, the record shows those in attendance with signatures. A great find! I have posted this from the Derk Jacobs page on site. Or click here.
Ruth 'Adema' Stempien and I chatted this past Saturday. Very nice woman. She has been so kind as to share information and pictures concerning the family. This new information has been posted on the Derk Jacobs page and the new Minnie Kruizenga page.
