An American visited in November 2010 and was surprised to see very few cars. The Groningen City Centre does not allow cars. Not all of Groningen. But it is a great experience riding through Groningen by bike.
Hilbrand Rozema, a descendant of the Hindrik Jacobs Kruizinga lineage, lives in the southern portion of the Netherlands. About a week ago, Hilbrand and his father traveled north into the Groningen Province to visit and photograph the old locations of Jacob Cornellis Kruize (2nd Gen) and Derk Jacobs Kruizinga (3rd Gen).
To anyone else, the pictures of the former location of the home wherein Jacob Cornellis Kruize and his family once lived might appear to be only a field with a few boxes of potatoes. But to us who are aware of the history of the land, these pictures mean so much more.
I really appreciate Hilbrand for his journey north and willingness to share his pictures with us. Thanks Hilbrand!
His pictures are posted in two separate locations:
