Nettie Hendricks Genealogy - a New Link 01/13/2012
Jacob Derks Kruizenga and his 1st wife Janna Nannenga had three daughters: Jessie, Carrie, and Nettie. Nettie was born August of 1861. She married postman John M. Hendricks (1859-1949) in 1882.
This union produced four daughters: Mary Blanche - July 1883 Carrie M. - Jan. 1886, died Nov. 1985 (buried at Fairplains, Block L, Lot 510 - will picture after Winter) Eleanor J. - 27 March 1887 to Feb. 1979 Louise K. - May 1890, died 1970 (never married) Mary Blanche Hendricks married Harry Osborn on 10 Aug 1910. Carrie M. Hendricks married Harry D. Nyburg on 20 June 1906. Eleanor J. Hendricks married Edgar R. Carpenter on 28 June 1909. The following obituaries for Carrie Hendricks Nyburg and Eleanor Hendricks Carpenter provide important clues. Add Comment Back to the Graves 03/19/2010
Now that Spring is finally here and warmer weather has melted the snow away, I am headed back to the Cemeteries armed with my camera. There is a lot of field work that needs to be done - stones yet to find. I will also be headed back to the GR History Center for further research to tie up some loose ends. I have a call in to Greenwood Cemetery to find our missing "Janna" - Jacob's first wife. Though Greenwood has been around for decades, the records do not go back any further than 1880 - this due to a fire that destroyed the building housing earlier records. The caretaker there is piecing together some old information - pre-1880 and has asked that I contact her in about 6 months time. I have a strong feeling that Janna is buried there. As this was an early burial, it is possible that she was buried in the Potter's Field. I'm back out today to look for Nettie - she married John Hendricks (a postal worker). The spot where they were said to have been buried was covered in deep snow. Hopefully, now that the snow has cleared I will be able to locate their stones (if there are any). Have switched my focus back to Jacob Derk. I want to know as much as I can about him - and I'm going to do this by a thorough examination of his daughters. What became of them? They were so many. I have thus far recovered information concerning Frances and Nettie. Nettie married John M. Hendricks, a postal worker. They had children together. Frances married a broom company owner - Jacob F. Slooter. They too had children together. I have located Frances' gravestone and posted information/pictures. Nettie's I may have to wait until Springtime as it is likely buried beneath the snow. | ArchivesFebruary 2012 CategoriesAll |
