Clues to the Death of Tryntje Sybolts 11/27/2011
On 16 Jan 1783, Tryntje Sybolts, mother of Jacob Cornelis Kruize, married Hindrik Roseboom, her third marriage. It may be, according to the following record, that Hindrik Roseboom remarried on 1 Nov 1791. This would mean, of course, that Tryntje died prior to this date. So she would have had to have died between 1783 and 1791. Confirming a possible 1791 death is the following taken from the Register of revenues from the rental of body sheets from the New Church, Church congregation - Groningen. The above record shows the rental of body sheets by Hindrik Roseboom on 4 April 1791. Could this have been for Tryntje? Then who was the widow of Hindrik Roseboom who rented body sheets on 29 Feb 1803? I had thought previously that this was Tryntje, but Hindrik had remarried. This would be Antje Jacobs Cremer - not Tryntje. And this would be for Hindrik Roseboom - who died in 1803. Add Comment Birth? Unknown Marriage 1 to Hindrik Jans - 1762 at Uithuizen 1763 - Daughter Trijntje is born at Eppenhuizen Marriage 2 to Jan Hulst - 1776 at Groningen Marriage 3 to Hindrik Roseboom - 1783 at Groningen 1788 - Son Jacob Cornelis marries Eiske Jacobs in Oosterwijtwerd When searching over 2 dozen church birth registries, it came upon me that Jacob Cornelis might have been baptized in or around Groningen. We do not know when Trijntje made her way to this city: only that she was there in 1776. The cities of Eppenhuizen and Uithuizen - the birth registries there do not contain the record of Jacob. Now we can deduce that Trijntje was semi-religious at best because she had Trijntje baptized. I only say this because it was customary to baptize an infant or risk losing their precious souls: infant mortality rates were very high. Thus, Jacob was baptized somewhere. I just have not located the place yet. I believe I have located the approximate death dates of both Hindrik Roseboom (Trijntje's 3rd husband) and Trijntje herself. The Groningen register of revenues from the rental of body sheets from the New Church contain the following records. This is good news! It is now known the fate of Trijntje - mother of us all. She died in Groningen. But it still leaves a wide gaping hole from 1762 (the time of 1st marriage) and 1776 (the time of 2nd marriage) when our ancestor Jacob Cornelis was born: allegedly illegitimately. The search continues.
