Now that Spring is finally here and warmer weather has melted the snow away, I am headed back to the Cemeteries armed with my camera. There is a lot of field work that needs to be done - stones yet to find.
I will also be headed back to the GR History Center for further research to tie up some loose ends. I have a call in to Greenwood Cemetery to find our missing "Janna" - Jacob's first wife. Though Greenwood has been around for decades, the records do not go back any further than 1880 - this due to a fire that destroyed the building housing earlier records.
The caretaker there is piecing together some old information - pre-1880 and has asked that I contact her in about 6 months time. I have a strong feeling that Janna is buried there. As this was an early burial, it is possible that she was buried in the Potter's Field.
I'm back out today to look for Nettie - she married John Hendricks (a postal worker). The spot where they were said to have been buried was covered in deep snow. Hopefully, now that the snow has cleared I will be able to locate their stones (if there are any).
