Who Was Derk Jacobs?
Derk worked as a farmer his entire life - on the Jacob Derks Kruizenga farm in Plainfield, Michigan. Derk's World War 1 Draft Registration Card (final of 3 waves) reveals that Derk worked as a self-employed farmer, was tall, stout, had blue eyes and light-colored hair. Derk did not serve - the war ended shortly after Derk signed the registration.
On March 5, 1930, Katherine passed away. She was buried at the old Mason Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On May 27, 1952, Derk passed away. He too is buried at the old Mason Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. |
