Henry Adema was born in 1910 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 1920 Federal Census shows Henry living on a farm in Grand Rapids on Leonard St. & Township Road. Henry had two siblings: Florence (1912) and Cornelius (1914). Their parents were Albert Henry Adema and Jennie Bakelaar(?).
Albert Henry Adema emigrated on 28 Sept. 1902 aboard the Noordam riding steerage. He was 26 years old and single. The ship departed Rotterdam. The passenger manifest reveals that Henry had $155 on his person, that his last residence was in Heerenveen (in province of Friesland), that he was a farmer, and that his final destination was to Grand Rapids, Michigan where he intended to see his cousin B.
